A zygote (from Greek zygótos "joined" or "yoked") is the initial cell of human life formed when to gamete cells are joined by means of sexual reproduction. It is the earliest developmental stage of the embryo. Its capacity for cell division is as immeasurable as is the universe in which we live in. One single zygote makes up an entire human organism with around 75 billion cells. In each second 50 million cells die in our body, while at the same time 50 million new cells are born. The natural circle of life and death takes place in the microcosm of the cell and its cell components.
